Prescription for Success in the Healthcare Industry

Sometimes it takes a personal experience to bring what should be an obvious problem into focus. For Rick Goodman, that came as he evaluated his wife’s experience navigating the complex world of cancer treatment and helping him develop a better understanding of how the people that surrounded her care made a difference in helping her get better. In the video, “Prescription for Success in the Healthcare Industry, Dr. Rick focuses on the human side of healthcare and discusses how he challenges healthcare organizations to inspire and train their people. He strives to help leaders in healthcare organizations recognize that everyone in the organization, not just the clinical professionals, can contribute to the positive outcome of their patients. According to Dr. Rick, all healthcare professionals “have the power to help the patient or the power to make the patient feel helpless”. Dr. Rick brings focused training programs targeted at the healthcare industry that help organizations create a strong patient-focused culture.

The Alex Project - Laws of Success "The Golden Rule"

In his final lesson in Law of Success, Napolean Hill discusses “the Golden Rule”, and how he believes it to be the driving force in gaining success. “The Golden Rule” is defined as “the guiding star that will enable you to profitably and constructively use the knowledge assembled in the previous lessons".

To put it simply, following this law is the only way to apply the power that the preceding lessons provide.  The universal definition of “The Golden Rule” is to do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you if your positions were reversed. This must be taken very seriously, as Hill stresses the fact that all of your actions and thoughts will come back to you, for better or worse. It is not enough to merely believe in the philosophy of the Golden Rule, but rather one must apply it.

The primary key to this lesson is that the Golden Rule, when understood and applied, makes dishonesty, selfishness, greed, envy, hatred and malice impossible to maintain. One must be blatantly honest, and realize you are only punishing yourself by every wrong you commit, and rewarding yourself by every act of constructive conduct.

The Alex Project - Laws of Success "Tolerance"

Lesson fifteen in Napolean Hill’s Law of Success discusses the idea of tolerance. The chapter describes the destructive effects of intolerance, which according to Hill, clouds the mind of the individual and stops his moral, mental and spiritual development. Intolerance is a form of ignorance that must be mastered, and if not acknowledged, will surely prevent one from achieving the successes that they desire. In this brief lesson, Hill makes sure to emphasize that regardless of the business one is engaged in, cooperation and tolerance can be of tremendous help in achieving one's definite chief aim.

The Alex Project - The Laws of Success "Accurate Thinking"

According to author Napoleon Hill, the eleventh lesson in his proclaimed Law of Success is the most important, most interesting, and unfortunately the most difficult lesson to present to the reader. Accurate Thinking involves two paired ideas.

The first idea is separating fact from information, and the second is separating this fact into two classes. These classes are important and unimportant facts, or relevant and irrelevant facts.

Hill emphasizes the great importance of being able to make this distinction, because the accurate thinker will not believe anything he or she hears. Instead, he or she will arrive at a conclusion only after careful and thoughtful analysis.

The key to accurate thinking, according to Hill, is what he calls "creative thought", which allows us to tap into "infinite intelligence." The major step towards creative thought is autosuggestion, otherwise known as suggestions you make to yourself. The subconscious mind records the suggestions we send it, and invoke the aid of infinite intelligence to turn these suggestions into action.

The lesson concludes by reminding us that the subconscious mind accepts any and all suggestions, both constructive or destructive, and cautions us to be careful what we suggest. You must only suggest facts and no slander, for slander is poisonous to the subconscious mind and ruins this creative thought.

The Alex Project - Laws of Success "A Pleasing Personality"

The tenth lesson in Napolean Hill’s Law of Success reading course discusses the importance of having a “pleasing personality”. Hill defines this as "a personality that attracts", and proceeds to explore the causes of this attraction.

One of the most crucial ways to initiate this attraction is by taking a genuine interest in other people. This is not arguing that for an average salesman, cheap flattery will serve as this genuine interest. Rather, by forming a relationship with a potential customer prior to the sale, the attraction is initiated and results in a more comfortable environment for both the salesman and his possible customer.

Hill concludes this lesson by discussing character, and ways to implement his formula that will result in this character being built up. He suggests that first, imagine those people who have the type of character you wish to possess, and then proceed to take on those qualities through self-suggestion. Create in your imagination a meeting with them, and then write out a detailed statement of the qualities you wish to assume from them. It is important to note that it is vital to the process that you actually see these figures seated around an imaginary table. Then, keep your thoughts focused in a positive manner as you listen to their advice and guidance, while keeping in mind the kind of person you would like to be. Also, make it a point to never forget to give praise to the genuine good qualities you see in others. Hill promises the reader that this will bring the law of attraction into play almost magically.

The Power of the Personal Note

Have you ever gotten a high score in bowling or maybe it will was a perfect score and the teacher wrote a little remark on the page about your accomplishments? My question is how did it make you feel and did you share that note or score with anyone or everyone? I remember hanging  that   score on the fridge to this day and I still have some of those report cards the ones with the great messages as well as a the not so great.

My point is that it is more important than ever to reach out and touch our clients, customers and friends in a more personal way! Just recently I was in St. Louis visiting my kids and was invited to my friend Doug’s house for a BBQ engagement function for his son and future daughter-in-law. That afternoon we went shopping at Plaza Frontenac  in St. Louis.

When we walked into Neiman Marcus we were helped by a woman named Karen Gillis who was absolutely fabulous! In no time she had a beautiful present picked out which work very well for my AAA personality, but she also showered my wife with gifts and a box of Godiva Chocolates

To say I was impressed is an understatement! I was overwhelmed by her excellent customer service and looked forward to shopping with her again! If that was not enough two weeks later back in Florida I received a personal letter in the mail addressed to me from Neiman Marcus. To my surprise it was a note from Karen thanking me for my business and giving me her personal hours and contact information. After receiving that personal note I can tell you that Karen is the only salesperson that I will work with at that location!

Only a few weeks ago I took my mother and her boyfriend out for her birthday to the Capitol Grill in Boca Raton, Florida. When we arrived at the table it was decorated with a personal note for my mother acknowledging her birthday. Our server Isabel came to our table with glasses of champagne to toast my mom’s birthday. The meal and the service was magnificent and we left completely full and happy, but once again that is not the end to the story.

A week later I received a personal note from our server is Isabel and in it she told me how honored she was to have  been able to make my mother’s birthday special. Just like Karen from Neiman Marcus she also stated in her note that she looked forward to serving us again in the future!

Again I can tell you the next time I go to the Capitol Grill in Boca Raton Florida I'm asking for Isabel to wait on our table.

The bottom line is two great companies, well-trained employees and satisfied customers who will return again and again. This Is the Power of the Personal Note!

I Am Totally Healthy I Just Have Cancer!

The moment I heard those words come out of my wife's mouth I was totally blown away, but why should I be that was three years ago and my wife had already been battling cancer for three years!

The doctor turned and looked at my wife is if she was out of her mind, but I knew this was one of the toughest women on the planet. She knew she was in the fight of her life and that a positive attitude was the key to her success.

Personally I did not know if my wife was kidding herself or truly believed her own words.
However I have come to know that Jackie Klein Goodman is one of the toughest and most positive people on the planet. She goes and goes and keeps on challenging herself and others through the example that she sets every day!

Are you ready to keep on keeping on in this economy?

Because how you look at your life every day will determine the road you will travel. When life has you down are you grateful for all the little things, those special moments and times of reflection that will keep you in balance and take you to the next level.

I just came back from an awesome day on the 17 mile Drive with Jackie and my daughter Jamie reflecting enjoying and observing. Treasure all of life's moments and focus on how you can appreciate every second of every day and make a difference to others!

Are You Focused on the 10 Percenter?s?

Are you focused on the 10 Percenter's in your life?

You know these people they are the type that would win the winning lottery ticket and still complain about paying taxes. They generally see the cup as half empty and always focus on the trivial instead of the big picture!

You know some of these people maybe even intimately. Some of them are your ex spouses or significant others, some of them are your in-laws or your brothers or sisters and some of them are your colleagues, your boss and your children.

So why do we focus on the few instead of the masses?

When I was actively practicing chiropractic I may have had 100 patients come to my office in a day and 99 of them were thrilled with the service that we provided and one would complain and leave and tell us that they would never come back again! At that time in my life I would focus and obsess about that one client who prevented me from hearing and receiving the love that my other patients were giving me.

How many of you out there have experienced the same scenario in your lives?

Today I was doing my workout in Marco Island Florida. Since there is no boardwalk to skate on things can get a little dicey on the open road even with the speed limit set at 35 mph. I decided to skate against incoming traffic in order to see the cars coming at me and for them in turn to see me. This was a perfect test for my 10 percent rule.

With two oncoming lanes which cars would kindly move over to the open lane and which ones would come directly at me. Also what would my reaction be either way? The good news is that I am happy to be alive and well to report my results and here is how it went on my eight-mile trek!

With just about 200 cars total passing and coming at me only 2 did not move our 10 Percenter's! One happened early on so I decided to salute the drivers and give them a thumbs up in advance of our approaching each other and The Results Were AMAZING!

The driver either smiled, gave me the thumbs up back or saluted! Only two people threw their arms up in disgust and we have to figure that they are in the family of 10 Percenter’s.

The Good News is that it is currently 9:30 am on Saturday July 2, 2011 I got my workout in and made almost 200 people smile!

Have a Safe Holiday!

The Art of Creating A Successful Team

The quality of your office is going to be determined by the quality of the team that assists you in providing health care to your patients. There are a number of things that she can do in order to build and strengthen your health care team.

People do business with people who they like, who are like them it is important that we understand this concept. It is more important than ever before, that there is a positive chemistry among your staff members. The more your staff members enjoy working with each other, the better care your patients will receive.

So here are three things you can do right away, in order to build and create a successful team that is ready to assist you in providing health care to your patients.

1: You must have regular staff meetings. Although most people don’t like to be in meetings they’re important in order to set goals, solve problems and get everybody on the same page.

2: Design group activities that involve all staff members in a setting other than your office. Make it fun! This will not only help team members bond with each other. It should also help them bond with you

3: Constantly catch your team members doing the right thing and let them know how much you appreciate it. Then tell the rest of the staff members, what a great job that person did and be specific. Everyone wants Love, Appreciation and : Respect, if you give them those three things you will have a group of highly motivated quality staff members on your team.

The Simple Secret of Success!

I believe that messages come to us from all different encounters that we have in life and yesterday was no exception! I was driving home from visiting my 89 year old grandmother who is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom in her own right when it comes to all issues regarding life and success when I decided to stop and get some fresh squeezed orange juice from Bob Roth’s famous groves in Davie Florida.

When I walked in I noticed an older man sitting on a golf cart where the samples of oranges and grapfruit sat on the table for customers to enjoy. After I purchased my orange juice I noticed the picture on the Jukebox as I walked out.The picture was of the old man was sitting on the golf cart.

It said happy 100 birthday to Al Roth!

The man was the father of the owner of the groves who had recently turned 100 and was still out there greeting customers. I needed to ask him a question that was most important to me and one that I might be able to share with my clients and friends alike.

I went over to Al and introduce myself and asked him:

” What did he feel was the secret to success”?

He looked at me and said it’s very simple. He said, “you need to learn to control your subconscious mind”.

With all the books that I have read and all the speeches that I’ve delivered I have stressed the philosophy and the importance of the subconscious mind when it comes to success.

Now Al Roth and his hundred years on the planet confirmed that I was on the right track!

Your ability to control your mind and focus your thoughts is paramount to your success in life. We never know when these little secrets or life lessons are going to come upon us, so be open and aware at all times.

You may get one of life’s greatest lessons even if it is at the local orange grove!

Memorial Home Health Care People Making a Difference

Today I had the Pleasure of Speaking at Memorial Home Health Care in Hollywood, Florida. With all the troubles in the world regarding our economy, job losses and the housing crisis we face, it's good to be able to count on people that are around to serve the health needs of others.

We have to remember in life that's not what happens to us. It's what we do with what happens to us, That makes a big difference!

It was refreshing for me to see that there are people in this world that are totally focused on helping others with their health care needs. This in my opinion, could be the highest form of service that there is on the planet .

I want to congratulate the entire organization At Memorial Home Health Care as they strive for excellence in serving the needs of others.
