I Am Totally Healthy I Just Have Cancer!

The moment I heard those words come out of my wife's mouth I was totally blown away, but why should I be that was three years ago and my wife had already been battling cancer for three years!

The doctor turned and looked at my wife is if she was out of her mind, but I knew this was one of the toughest women on the planet. She knew she was in the fight of her life and that a positive attitude was the key to her success.

Personally I did not know if my wife was kidding herself or truly believed her own words.
However I have come to know that Jackie Klein Goodman is one of the toughest and most positive people on the planet. She goes and goes and keeps on challenging herself and others through the example that she sets every day!

Are you ready to keep on keeping on in this economy?

Because how you look at your life every day will determine the road you will travel. When life has you down are you grateful for all the little things, those special moments and times of reflection that will keep you in balance and take you to the next level.

I just came back from an awesome day on the 17 mile Drive with Jackie and my daughter Jamie reflecting enjoying and observing. Treasure all of life's moments and focus on how you can appreciate every second of every day and make a difference to others!

Check out my new blog Are you focused on the 10 Percenter's in Your Life? at:

http://ping.fm/WiwW1
Are You Focused on the 10 Percenter’s?

Are you focused on the 10 Percenter's in your life? You know these people they are the type that would win the winning lottery ticket and still complain about paying taxes. They generally see the cup as half empty and always focus on the trivial instead of the big picture!

You know some of these people maybe even intimately. Some of them are your ex spouses or significant others, some of them are your in-laws or your brothers or sisters and some of them are your colleagues, your boss and your children.

So why do we focus on the few instead of the masses?

When I was actively practicing chiropractic I may have had 100 patients come to my office in a day and 99 of them were thrilled with the service that we provided and one would complain and leave and tell us that they would never come back again! At that time in my life I would focus and obsess about that one client who prevented me from hearing and receiving the love that my other patients were giving me.

How many of you out there have experienced the same scenario in your lives?

Today I was doing my workout in Marco Island Florida. Since there is no boardwalk to skate on things can get a little dicey on the open road even with the speed limit set at 35 mph. I decided to skate against incoming traffic in order to see the cars coming at me and for them in turn to see me. This was a perfect test for my 10 percent rule.

With two oncoming lanes which cars would kindly move over to the open lane and which ones would come directly at me. Also what would my reaction be either way? The good news is that I am happy to be alive and well to report my results and here is how it went on my eight-mile trek!

With just about 200 cars total passing and coming at me only 2 did not move our 10 Percenter's! One happened early on so I decided to salute the drivers and give them a thumbs up in advance of our approaching each other and The Results Were AMAZING!

The driver either smiled, gave me the thumbs up back or saluted! Only two people threw their arms up in disgust and we have to figure that they are in the family of 10 Percenter’s.

The Good News is that it is currently 9:30 am on Saturday July 2, 2011 I got my workout in and made almost 200 people smile!

Have a Safe Holiday!

The Art of Creating A Successful Team

The quality of your office is going to be determined by the quality of the team that assists you in providing health care to your patients. There are a number of things that she can do in order to build and strengthen your health care team.

People do business with people who they like, who are like them it is important that we understand this concept. It is more important than ever before, that there is a positive chemistry among your staff members. The more your staff members enjoy working with each other, the better care your patients will receive.

So here are three things you can do right away, in order to build and create a successful team that is ready to assist you in providing health care to your patients.

1: You must have regular staff meetings. Although most people don’t like to be in meetings they’re important in order to set goals, solve problems and get everybody on the same page.

2: Design group activities that involve all staff members in a setting other than your office. Make it fun! This will not only help team members bond with each other. It should also help them bond with you

3: Constantly catch your team members doing the right thing and let them know how much you appreciate it. Then tell the rest of the staff members, what a great job that person did and be specific. Everyone wants Love, Appreciation and : Respect, if you give them those three things you will have a group of highly motivated quality staff members on your team.

The Simple Secret of Success!

I believe that messages come to us from all different encounters that we have in life and yesterday was no exception! I was driving home from visiting my 89 year old grandmother who is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom in her own right when it comes to all issues regarding life and success when I decided to stop and get some fresh squeezed orange juice from Bob Roth’s famous groves in Davie Florida.

When I walked in I noticed an older man sitting on a golf cart where the samples of oranges and grapfruit sat on the table for customers to enjoy. After I purchased my orange juice I noticed the picture on the Jukebox as I walked out.The picture was of the old man was sitting on the golf cart.

It said happy 100 birthday to Al Roth!

The man was the father of the owner of the groves who had recently turned 100 and was still out there greeting customers. I needed to ask him a question that was most important to me and one that I might be able to share with my clients and friends alike.

I went over to Al and introduce myself and asked him:

” What did he feel was the secret to success”?

He looked at me and said it’s very simple. He said, “you need to learn to control your subconscious mind”.

With all the books that I have read and all the speeches that I’ve delivered I have stressed the philosophy and the importance of the subconscious mind when it comes to success.

Now Al Roth and his hundred years on the planet confirmed that I was on the right track!

Your ability to control your mind and focus your thoughts is paramount to your success in life. We never know when these little secrets or life lessons are going to come upon us, so be open and aware at all times.

You may get one of life’s greatest lessons even if it is at the local orange grove!

Super Bowl 2009 A Day of Excitement a Day of Regrets

If you're like me. You were probably sitting in front of your TV set for most of the day watching the Super Bowl pregame show on NBC. The one piece that I found most interesting was the one that was done on wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. It was interesting to me because I had read only about the ballplayer Larry Fitzgerald not the person.

From what everyone says and what became apparent in the game is that he is truly a gifted athlete. However, what really caught my attention was the story that revolves around his mother and the fact that he hadn't spoken to her for months leading up in until untimely death.

Larry Fitzgerald's mom had breast cancer. This is something I truly understand since I've been living with it in my house for the last three years. Breast cancer can be devastating to one's family, breaking relationships apart and killing dreams.

That's if we let it! In our house, we decided not to let it kill our dreams, but expand what we can bring to the table.

This philosophy has helped us to educate others about the treatments available to them and the latest technology in the fight against breast cancer.

What I really learned from the Larry Fitzgerald interview last night was the importance of family and relationships and how short life can really be. Here today and gone tomorrow is a saying that I heard a lot while growing up. Unfortunately, it is a reality in his life.

So take a look at your loved ones and give them a big hug, while you have a chance because life is truly short and that was the most valuable lesson I learned on Super Bowl Sunday.

Kurt Warner Is Living a Championship Life

It's like déjà vu all over again for me. It was the 1999-2000 NFL season and I was one of the physicians for the St. Louis Rams. In fact, I wrote about my experiences in my recently published book, Living a Championship Life "A Game Plan for Success". The purpose of the book was to demonstrate the common traits that all championship athletes and teams have in common with the world's most successful people.

I I found that they all had a game plan for the ultimate victory and that anybody on the planet could achieve the same results. They just needed a strategic game plan and an ability to maintain their focus, just like the pros.

The first chapter of my book is titled "Attitude Is Everything"In it I described an athlete who impressed me by the way he carried himself everywhere he went and his positive attitude about life. His name was Kurt Warner. "An individual, who knew no bounds-with an attitude of gratitude for just being able to play the game-took over as the starting quarterback after an injury to Trent Green."

At the University of Northern Iowa, Warner watched two quarterbacks battle for the starting position until it was his senior year. He hung in there and didn't give up until he was finally given a chance to start his last season. In that season he was named the Gateway Conference offensive player of the year. He was released by the Green Bay Packers in 1994 just before the regular season began. Then onto his success in the Arena football league where he was named as one of the 20 best players of all time.

Then it was off to the tryout for the Chicago Bears until an injury to his throwing elbow caused by a venomous spider bite received during his honeymoon prevented from attending training camp.

Next stop St. Louis Rams, and we all know the story there. Super Bowl MVP, hero and class act. So what happened? A short stint with the Giants, and then off to NFL purgatory in Arizona or so we thought.

People forget the quality of the man named Kurt Warner. Someone who understands that attitude is everything and does what it takes to get things done. So this Sunday we're going to get to see a future Hall of Famer at the helm. I'm excited for him, but I'm more excited to have been able to witness the story of a man who understands that attitude is everything. If you want to be successful in life!

Memorial Home Health Care People Making a Difference

Today I had the Pleasure of Speaking at Memorial Home Health Care in Hollywood, Florida. With all the troubles in the world regarding our economy, job losses and the housing crisis we face, it's good to be able to count on people that are around to serve the health needs of others.

We have to remember in life that's not what happens to us. It's what we do with what happens to us, That makes a big difference!

It was refreshing for me to see that there are people in this world that are totally focused on helping others with their health care needs. This in my opinion, could be the highest form of service that there is on the planet .

I want to congratulate the entire organization At Memorial Home Health Care as they strive for excellence in serving the needs of others.

A Super Bowl Champion Is a Champion Once Again!

In my keynote programs I regularly tell stories about individuals I know who have achieved great things in life. In fact in my book Living a Championship Life "A Game Plan for Success" I have a chapter on one of my good friends and former patients Michael Jones of the St. Louis Rams.

As some of you might remember Michael Jones made the winning tackle in the Super Bowl in one of the most memorable plays in sports history. However in the book I spoke about Michael's determination, integrity and character in all aspects of his life.

Well Michael did it again on Friday night November 29, 2008 as the interim coach of the Hazelwood East football team he helped the Spartans to win the Missouri class five championship game. The interesting thing is he did it in typical fashion winning the game on the last play with no time left his quarterback threw a Hail Mary that was caught in the end zone to give his team the victory 39-34 which was the schools third title.

Michael is an example of all that's good about pro football and how an athlete can inspire a team and a community to achieve greatness and I am glad to call him my friend.

We Are in a Recession No Duh!

It amazed me to watch the local and national news last night and have our so-called experts tell us that we're in a recession. Do they think that the American people are so stupid that we haven't figured this out a long time ago?

I know there's a common adage that he who yells loudest might just be believed. Unfortunately there are a good number of Americans that truly believed President Bush when he said we were not in a recession.

I think it's imperative that each one of us as Americans not only begin to think for ourselves but we should also be listening to Jimmy Cricket and let our conscience be your guide not the talking heads are politicians who attempt to tell us what we should be thinking!

A Dichotomy of Opinions "The Problems Facing The Major Networks"

I don't know if you're like me but as an American citizen looking forward to the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election. We are facing a number of issues most importantly the economy and the pessimistic attitude of most Americans towards the elections.

For just one time I would like to watch a news broadcast without getting the spin from one of the talking heads. As an independent voter and communication specialist I want to listen to what's truly being said . This is why God gave me two ears and a brain to think, I resent being told by my the news channels and I just heard something different.

Anybody who's watched Fox news knows that this channel leans towards the Republican point of view. When I watch CNN I am surprised lately at how liberal their stance is when reporting the media events of the day, it's almost as if they were a Democratic talking head. This was truly evident in the debate last night especially with the new twist of scoring the debate that the channel uses.

I particularly got a kick out of Roland Martin! When it was time for Barak Obamas opening remark Mr. Martin hit the plus one button when Senator Obama said thank you Hofstra University. His scorecard looked like a football game score 54-40 something in favor Obama. If the sender breathes does he get points?

Finally I turned to NBC news where Tom Browkow and Brian Williams were discussing the debate. I believe that Tom Browkow was the first news man on all the channels that I flipped through last night that actually had an unbiased opinion! This frankly was the most refreshing 20 minutes of news I watched all day.

I truly believe that the American people are smart enough to make their own decisions about their lives without the interference of government or the positive and negative spins that all news reporting agencies have been using in this election.

It almost makes you want to turn off the news and watch a good movie!

That's if Hollywood can make some good movies these days!
